Hiking Guidelines

The Group Size is 15 See the Hiking Guidelines at  adk.com/recreation/z-hike.htm

Advanced notice  - Generally 3 to 4 weeks before the Hike

Sign up - Contact the leader directly, get directions and times to the car pool spot. Leave your phone number in case of cancellations.

Canceling - please call to let the leader know that you can't make it. If it is early enough someone else may go in your place.

Children - The hike leader may bring children that have good hiking skills. Others must convince the leader that the youngster is well a seasoned hiker. This will be the hike leaders call.

Car pooling - Limited parking at the trail head and economics make car pooling a necessity. Some parking areas are charging to park. Please offer to pay a fair amount to offset expenses.

Bathroom breaks - We stop at rest stops or local Stewart stores before the hike. Otherwise there is always the woods!

Dinner afterwards - more often than not the group will get together for a bite to eat. Nothing too fancy but be prepared if you would like to partake.

What to bring - Water, food, snacks, hiking boots, hiking socks (2 pr), day pack, bug repellent, sunscreen, toilet paper, extra shirt, windbreaker or raingear, fleece, flashlight and a change of clothes for après-hike.

A note on hiking boots - We will be hiking rough terrain up mountains! To minimize the risk of injury and the quality of the outdoor experience, please invest in a quality hiking boot and good hiking socks. Good socks help prevent blisters which can be hike ending at times.

I know I forgot something or if you have questions, let me know!
