April Article
Spring has come and some are happy, however I still want that last mash potato run and take in some of that Spring sun on the mountain. If those days are calling you there will be two Council Days in April that you can take advantage of, both are at Whiteface on the 7th & 8th which you will need to drive up on your own.
Our 07-08 Family Ski season was better than ever this year with more ski days & events than last season. If your skis are put away and the roller blades are out, I hope you can look back to this years season with a smile knowing that you made a few ski memories with your families.
I am looking forward to working on next years plans for family events and continue to request your feed back on how to make next year even better. We also want you to remember APRIL is ELECTION time for the club and that you should get out to the PCC on April 10th for election of club officers.
Please make an effort to find out about the candidates running for the Board and other positions, educate yourselves on their ideas and goals, because we as OC Family need their support to make family events happen.
As usual at this time of the year I want to add a huge thanks to those that were helpful in making this a successful year for family events once again. My thanks go out to Maureen Kline, Eileen Finn-LeMatty, Joan Savage, Gary Phillips, Ray Van Epps and our club President Silvia Britt.
March Article
Hello OC Family! Believe it or not, we are in the home stretch of Winter! Do not let that get you down, as March is setting up to be the largest month for Family events.
The Month starts off Saturday the 1st with a Cross Country Family Bus to Lapland Lakes, in Benson, NY. Next is the WINTER CARNIVAL on Sat. the 8th at Mt. Snow, a family bus is scheduled for this event, check out the OC web site for more details.
We then look towards EASTER weekend, this starts off on Thursday night the 20th with our final Maple Ski Ridge outing, with $12 tickets from 5-9 PM. Next is Good Friday the 21st with a Family bus to Pico, & last but not least is an Easter Sunday Family bus to Gore. Finally to end the month we have our second Family weekend trip that is going to Okemo the 28th - 30th.
If your schedule allows you to take weekdays & you do not mind driving, the Capital District Ski Council has plenty of options for you during March. Currently there are 10 Council Awareness Ski days scheduled at this time with both Weekdays & Weekend dates. For more information on these dates and locations, check out the Council link on the OC Web page.
So far this year has been full of great options for us in the Family group & we continue to look for your support to make this our most successful year yet. I hope you all will continue to take advantage of what has been offered, so get out there, ski, enjoy yourselves and most of all be ski safe.
February Article
The winter seems to have just started, but with the full December we had, February is half way through our Four Month Season. The skiing along with our Family events have been excellent so far this year, including our Smugglers Notch family trip wrapping up the end of January with 33 people attending.
