2012 Smuggs Trip

Hello OC Family and welcome to February. As I write this article during the second week of January I am trying to figure out if I should start preparing for spring or set myself up for a short and hurried season in order to get in the most bang for my buck. Regardless if you haven't been out skiing yet you should go for it and take that first step to defy those snow haters, as the mountains are open for business. Please THINK SNOW and pray for a late season!

The Family events thus far have started slow as a result of the lack of snow, but I am sure we will get in plenty of skiing with everything yet to come. The Maple Ski Ridge Tuesday & Friday nights 5 PM to Closing for $10.00 is on again this year, so hopefully OC members and the Family group can take advantage of this offer. Our Smugglers Notch trip, held on Jan 27th - 29th was a success and we will be looking forward to doing this again for 2013. The Family Alpine ski bus offering of, ANY GIVEN SUNDAY that we have two buses running, one will be designated as a Family bus is on track once again this year. Other Family ski and race dates are set up, Sat. 4th Pico - Family Bus / Race Date & Sat. 11th West Mtn- Race Date / Drive-up. For Cross Country we have Sat. 11th Viking Nordic Center, Londonderry, VT & Sat. 18th Blueberry Hill Ski Center, Goshen, VT, Family Buses. We will be ending the month with Presidents week full of family bus outings, starting with two Alpine dates, Sunday the 19th Gore & Friday 24th Plattekill, then Cross Country - Sat. 25th Mountain Top, Chittenden, VT and finishing out the week with Racing at Magic Mtn on Sunday the 26th.

I look forward to seeing you out on the slopes and on the race course this month. We can also look toward March 10th for the annual OC Winter Carnival being held at Plattekill.

Welcome to 2012 and Happy New Year OC Family! I wanted to highlight this month the OC Race program as I am looking to assist Paula Moir in expanding the OC Race program and promoting it to get more Family members involved. This year there will be three race dates. All are on Saturdays with the first one on Jan. 7th at Magic Mtn. the next two are in February at Pico 2/4 & West Mtn. 2/25. We would like to encourage participation in the race program by ALL AGES within the family group, so please make plans to get to Magic for this first race and the others.

Family things that are happening, the Smugglers Notch trip on Jan. 27th - 29th is pretty much closed, as all of our open Condo units have been released back to Smuggs. Ski Lesson program for Sunday buses will be another options for Family members. Please stay up to date with Family events by having your name on my email list as well as regularly checking on Family events posted on the OC Web site. See you on the slopes or on the race course!
